A Fast and Secure Location-Based Handover Approach for Hybrid Networks
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper the multiple challenges for handovers in hybrid networks are discussed. Based on that a location-based handover for hybrid networks is evaluated. The handover takes into consideration the increased handover preparation time in hybrid networks, coming from the use of different air interfaces and the interoperation of different network providers. Also the security of the connection is a problem as the different networks included in the hybrid network have different security mechanisms. The location-based handover introduced here can speed up the handover process in general and also enables integrated authentication. This is an important task to fulfil, because providers usually only give authenticated users access to their network. In standard handovers authentication is not included because of a lack of time. The handover is evaluated by simulation and the scenarios and results for the correct choice of the target cell are given.

In the most recent heuristic methods, the high potential buses for capacitor placement are initially identified and ranked using loss sensitivity factors (LSFs) or power loss index (PLI). These factors or indices help to reduce the search space of the optimization procedure, but they may not always indicate the appropriate placement of capacitors. This paper proposes an efficient approach for t...

Establishing secure access and communications in a hierarchical mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) network, when a mobile node is roaming into a foreign network, is a challenging task and has so far received little attention. Existing solutions are mainly based on public key infrastructure (PKI) or identity-based cryptography (IBC). However, these solutions suffer from either efficiency or scalability proble...
متن کاملHybrid Key pre-distribution scheme for wireless sensor network based on combinatorial design
Key distribution is an important problem in wireless sensor networks where sensor nodesare randomly scattered in adversarial environments.Due to the random deployment of sensors, a list of keys must be pre-distributed to each sensor node before deployment. To establish a secure communication, two nodes must share common key from their key-rings. Otherwise, they can find a key- path in which ens...

This paper presents some security issues of handover procedures with an emphasis on hybrid and high velocity networks. It describes functional as well as informational security problems that occur during handover procedures and presents how predicting the next cell during a handover procedure can help to solve these problems. A cell prediction is especially possible in track bounded wireless ne...
